FAQ

FOR MARBLE & GRANITE

Q. Where can I use Natural Stone?
A. You can use natural stone in Flooring, Wall‐Cladding, Kitchen Counter‐tops,Bathroom
counters and Vanity Tops, Patios, Walkways, Fireplaces, etc. It depends upon your choice and needs.

Q. Can you explain the different finishes for stone?
A. There are many finishes and options available. The more widely used finishes are:
Polished – A high gloss surface
Honed – Smooth with squared edges and without a polished surface (matte)
Brushed – Acid washed and wire brushed for a smooth textured surface
Flamed – Blow torched for a rough textured finish
Antique tumbled – Medium tumble (edges and surface to achieve a slight rustic look.)
Cobbled or Distressed ‐ Heavily tumbled edges and surface to achieve an aged or ancient look.

Q. What do I need to consider when buying a granite countertop?
A. Granite is a natural stone. It is very hard and durable, heat and scratch resistant, as well as easy to maintain; in all sense it’s the material of the future. Aside from the practical aspect, granite is very versatile in the design field. It comes in various colours and structural compositions, our range includes more than 150 colours to choose from. All stones are not exactly identical, each lot will have unique characteristics attributed to the specific granite.

Q. What is the best way to clean marble and other stones?
A. The old rule of thumb is never to use anything you wouldn’t use on your hands. Never use powdered cleansers or abrasive pads to clean your stone. Even "soft scrub" type cleaners contain pumice, which is powdered volcanic stone, and might damage your stone countertops or floors. Never use any product which is acidic; this includes substances like ammonia or many common liquid cleaners. You should always use sealers and cleaning products designed specifically for natural stone.

Q. Will my Stone look like the online sample?
A. The samples you see on the computer have been scanned and saved as digital images. The colour tones may not be absolutely correct due to variations in computer systems, monitors and compression algorithms. Also, granite is a natural material with naturally occurring variations in colour, tone, granularity, pattern, etc. These variations are expected and are the source of its natural beauty.

Q. What are the different applications of granite?
A. Granite is a very durable stone. It is also much harder than marble. Granite has been used in the past in the commercial industry. Some of the obvious applications have been panels on the outside of buildings, walls, and floors of "high‐traffic" areas.

FOR STONE MOSAIC

Can you make different mosaics?
Yes we can make Mosaic as per your design which you provide us. Just email us a photo of what you like to be done in mosaics with sizes. Also any design you see in our website can be customized as to colors or sizes.

I can't tell the colors of mosaic sample from the image on your website?
Sample is free of cost; shipping charges will be from your side.

Is Mosaic installation difficult?
You can install your mosaic yourself and it is similar to installing normal Wall tiles.

Do I need to grout my mosaic?
Grout is not necessary for interior wall but a must for floor installation and exterior wall or a wall exposed to water or cooking such as bathroom or kitchen.

Is there anything special about mosaic grouts?
No. The grouts and sealers you need are the same ones used for ordinary bathroom tiling, and the techniques of applying are the same.

Mosaic Installation?
Put Adhesive/Cement Compound on your mosaic tiles to fiberglass mesh at your work table. (Make sure your table is covered with construction plastic and then fix the mosaic on wall and do remember that Adhesive/ cement should not be very thin.

What colors of grout should I use in my mosaic?
I always choose a grout color which contrast the colors of the mosaic tiles so that the design is highlighted. Otherwise the individual tiles are lost to the eye, and the mosaic looks more like an ordinary picture and less like a mosaic made from pieces. I avoid situations like gray grout with gray tile. A nice red-brown grout works better in that instance. The key concept is color contrast.

Grout Cracking
You shouldn't let the grout dry out as it cures. Lightly mist with a spray bottle, but don't let drops accumulate on the surface of the mosaic. Mix the grout according to instructions. It should be like moist dough when you start with no dry material or lumps.

Can I have stone and glass mosaic tile together?
The two materials have different thickness. If you are pushing the tiles into concrete or mortar then it doesn't matter. If you are gluing to a surface, the difference in heights will be visible. This makes grouting a little more difficult, but it hasn't stopped me from doing it on many of my pieces at the gallery. I wouldn't recommend this for floor mosaics!
